Based on petals from real flowers, these calendula or marigold petal cutters are perfect for making your own life-like sugar marigold flowers. Lindy has used them plus a lovely double sided lily veiner to make the 'marvellous marigolds' mini cakes that appear in her 'Mini Cakes Academy' book.
"Every year self-sown marigolds, or calendula, to give them their Latin name, brighten up my garden with wonderful splashes of bright yellows, golds and oranges - what could be more cheerful! These easy to grow flowers bloom brightly all summer long and well into the Autumn and mild winters. On sunny days I like to sit and watch the butterflies and bees flying from one flower to another feasting on the nectar, what a mesmerizing sight! ...... I used to make a lot of sugar flowers, when I had more spare time, but I still occasionally like to sit and pull a real flower apart and then reconstruct it in sugar. For these mini cakes I have taken the calendula flowers in my garden and done just that! These petal cutters are part of the result - I hope you find them useful" Lindy Smith
