One week today and it will be the first day of filming for my Cake decorating DVD’s, how exciting……I am currently writing long lists of all the equipment, materials, cakes, steps and props that I will need to take to the kitchen where I being filmed. I can’t afford to forget anything – it’s a half hour drive away! I’m also trying to tie up loose ends, finish a couple of cakes, complete the step preparation for the cake jewellery cakes etc etc….
There are so many more things to think about that when I write my books… like what will I wear? – I’ve been told that for the camera, it’s best to have plain colours and no white. So yesterday I went shopping to see what I could add to my existing wardrobe! I don’t like shopping at the best of times……However, I do like going into Pret A Manger for an organic cappuccino and whilst in there I saw this Chinese proverb, which I’d like to share with you:
“Tell me and I’ll forget.
Show me and I’ll remember.
Involve me and I’ll understand”
It’s so true, and in many ways I think pertains to my cake decorating DVD’s – I am hoping you that by showing you how to, for example, carve a wonky cake that you will remember more easily how its done and that by doing it along with me you will understand the principles so will be able to do it again with ease.
I’ll leave you with that thought, I must get on…..no Pret coffees today!
