As you can see from the laughing faces of the class photo below, Friday’s students on my ‘Introduction to celebration cakes’ workshop all seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves.
The students, many having dealt with cake disasters at home, were all willing and eager to learn. They found kneading the sugarpaste – a must for all successful cake covering – “as good as a work out”! Once they all mastered the basics of cake covering it was on to decoration. I showed them various options including my current favourite stencils – a superbly quick, easy and effective way of decorating a cake that most beginners master very quickly. It was the first time I’d used the French medallion stencil, a new one – it worked a treat! I hope you’ll agree the students cakes look fab!
At the end of the day I was hearing comments such as the ones below:
“I’ve had a wonderful day – found it very therapeutic”
“I’ll be back – cookies I think”
“I’m really chuffed”
