We ended our 2009 workshop programme on a high today. A fabulous day creating cookies styled as christmas crackers, party frocks, party shoes and balloons. We are feeling very festive here at Lindy’s Cakes. Even more so because myself and my colleague Sarah, from the mail-order team, had the day off real work today to be students in this class! Oh the perks of working for Lindy Smith… and before you ask… yes, we do know how lucky we are!!
As you all know I love a cookie classes. Being a sugarcraft novice it is the best way to gain confidence in working with sugarpaste. Admittedly it is mind over matter but you just feel that because you are working with such a small object to cover, that if it doesn’t go to plan you can have another go in a moment! You get to make lots of cookies on these workshops so it really gives you the chance to experiment. Of course the students that come on our courses end up doing the most fabulous work and today was no exception. You should see what the confident sugarcrafters create… stunning!
Lindy guides you through each stage of covering and adorning your cookies, tweeking as she goes to meet the needs of the class as a whole, or individuals. Today we did stencilling with royal icing and lustre dust, plus embossing. Using Lindy’s own design cookie cutters: Christmas Cracker Cookie Cutter, Fitted Dress Cookie Cutter, Platform Stiletto Cookie Cutter and Balloon Cookie Cutter: we were able to get really creative. And we all came away with an armful of cookies to share with family & friends.
My little boys love these cookies. They argued over who was going to get the dress or the shoes, which makes me laugh out loud because it’s usually ‘yuk girlie things’ in our house!! And the sparklier the better when it comes cookies!! Lindy’s cookies have a wide appeal I can vouch for that. But beware they don’t last long… take a photo!
The Autumn workshops have been brilliant this year. Popular and well received. A workshop is the ultimate way to learn this craft. To have two expert sugarcrafting teachers, Lindy and Sally, at your fingertips is worth so much. I have learnt a lot since starting at Lindy’s Cakes and attending 2 courses… and I wasn’t really into sugarcrafting before I started working for Lindy! Oh how things have changed…
As one student put it ‘this is better than a spa day, any day’ We ALL agreed!
Come and join us in the New Year. For more information on our workshops click here spring workshops 2010.
Look forward to meeting you soon!

Its sounds like a lot of fun I just wish you could do a weekend class because I work full time so I can’t make the week days.
I would love to attend one of the classes this year though.

Hi Tracy, I am sorry that we don’t offer week-end classes. They are a fantastic day out so I do hope you can make it one day. KiwiRachel
