Wahey we’re off to Squires! I do love an exhibition and this particular one I have been looking forward to for some time. Having done the mega NEC extravaganza that is Cake International back in November, and survived, I felt well armed and ready for exhibition number two in my world! Towards the end of the day I was able to go ‘walkabout’ to visit other exhibitors and view the Table of Honour, Wedding Cake Showroom and Competition Area. All magnificent and inspiring. I throughly enjoyed the ‘Cupcake Room’. It was like walking into a cupcake boutique all dainty and pretty, but then these little morsels never fail to excite me! After all, we are all about cupcakes at the moment with Lindy’s own cupcake book currently in production! I then headed for the chocoalte area…don’t get me started… this is serious chocloate nirvana. I watched a ‘chocodemonstration’, big cake dripping in chocolate, it was just too much… this chocoholic had to run for the hills to save myself from fosbury flopping into all that chocolate loveliness! Moving on through the maze of gorgeousness I stumbled upon Mr Macaron! Today friends I tasted my first Macaron. My goodness, why have I not devoured one of these elegant delicacies before! Passionfruit Macaron, you’ve just got to do it once!
What I love the most about the sugarcraft cake world is that these cake creators are fundamentally artists. I am very interested in art & design and for me it was a real treat to see such incredible works of art. When you work for a sugarcraft cake expert like Lindy Smith you come to understand what goes in to creating a sugarcraft cake. And the time, energy and passion that goes in to each piece. These cake artists are dedicated perfectionists and whilst not every design will appeal to everyone, one can certainly appreciate each creation for the art that it is.
Loved Squires! Hopefully see you next year!
