Today was the last workshop from our summer collection of classes! It was a wonderful day… not only did the sun shine gloriously all day, we were joined by 3 serial workshoppers, we love an old face!!, and we were treated to a day creating the cake of the moment…THE CUPCAKE. Lindy’s world feels very cupcake crazy at the moment. Our office is full of cupcake inspired things, everywhere you turn there is as beautiful little cupcake beaming at you and saying ‘eat me’. This class is a lot about the decoration of the cupcake but Lindy will go through the baking too. After all it is just as important that the cake underneath is as fabulous. Lindy has created eight perfect recipes for cupcakes. Having baked hundreds of these little cakes Lindy knows a thing or two about how to achieve the perfect cupcake for adorning!
Today we worked with buttercream and sugarpaste. We used decorating techniques featuring floral cutters for the flowers, brush embroidery: using a piping bag and small brush, piped dots, impression moulds to create another style of flower. Lindy also showed the students how to work with various piping tubes for piping the buttercream and how to create Lindy’s famous striped buttercream! There is a lot of opportunity to experiment in this class. Everyone was able to have a go, at least once, at all the techniques Lindy demonstrated. You really do come away with super decoration options for your cupcakes. You can keep it simple and use the buttercream techniques or you can really go for it with the sugarpaste options. Either way I think you will agree that our students achieved some rather marvellous looking cupcakes today!
This was our last class for this collection of classes but have a look at our Autumn programme for more cupcake courses… or perhaps there’s another class to tempt you to join us for a day!
And finally…the cupakes by the boss…say no more!
