Over 25,000 people attended Cake International last weekend… so that explains it! What a show, what a buzz, what a busy stand we had! This is Lindy’s 9th NEC Cake show and this year was bigger and better than ever. Months and months of preparation went into our stand. We spend hours brain storming about how to make our stand fabulous, relevant and accessible. Lindy ‘locked’ herself away in her studio creating cakes, cookies, cupcakes and examples of her work for display. Lindy’s husband Graham organised all the stock and the girls in our mailorder team prepared it for the show, whilst Jane and Lindy literally moved mountains to bring you a fabulous stand! This year we focused on stencils, cutters, embossers, baking, jewellery and Lindy’s books, in particular her new book ‘The Contemporary Cake Decorating Bible’ .
Lindy printed lots of photographs from her new book and displayed them all around the stand, we had many of Lindy’s cakes, cookies and cupcakes on display so you could get a really good look at the detail in her work. Lindy created ‘stencilled’ boards so you could see how the stencils will look on your creation, as well as examples using her sugarcraft and cookie cutters. There is always a lot to look at on a Lindy’s Cakes stand…lots to inspire you.
This year we had the largest number of staff supporting Lindy than ever before. Lindy’s work team was joined by some of our uni students, our workshop Sally plus some friends of Lindy’s Cakes. And for the first time ever we had debit/credit card facilities. We had fantastic feedback from our customers about this service and from a ‘behind the stand’ point of view the terminals were so easy to use, quick and efficient… crucial given the number of people that attend Lindy’s stand!
Cake International is such a wonderful opportunity for Lindy to show off her work. Lindy is constantly writing, designing and developing new products for her growing ‘own label’ range. Our stand is a culmination of her latest designs, that she has developed over the year, plus some of her old favorites. It is also a fab opportunity to show off her latest publication as well as her other books, and whilst she nearly signed her hand off it is well worth it! The show also gives Lindy and the team the chance to connect with our cakefriends and get instant feedback on what you are loving at Lindy’s Cakes!
Lindy is delighted with how the show went for Lindy’s Cakes this year. It truly makes the months of preparation all worthwhile and to come away knowing that your work is so well received is quite simply the icing on the cake!
The next large sugarcraft event we will be attending is the British Sugarcraft Guild International Exhibition, at Telford International Centre, 19-20th May 2012. We hope to see many of you there. Click the link above for more information and for entry and demonstration tickets.
