I always know when a cake decorating class I’m teaching is going well, because time simply flies by and the day is over before it’s seems to have begun! This was definitely the case with our first ever mother and daughter class last Saturday. Despite the snow and severe weather warnings, everyone arrived more or less on time having travelled from Ireland, Bristol, London, Coventry, Hertfordshire and the south coast. It seemed that my students and their decoration partners loved the prospect of working on a cake together, the excitement in the room was almost tangible!
In the class we had various combinations of generations and relationships including a mother with her young 13 year old daughter, a couple of students who brought their mother-in-laws to join the fun and an cake decorating aunt and niece pair. Some were experienced, some were not, some ran small cake businesses whilst others had aspirations of doing so. However for this class an individuals skill level was not important, as the emphasis on the day was to share with each other, learn and have fun and of course pick up a few tips and tricks to take home as well.
I think the photos say it all, this is a class that we will definitely be repeating. The newly refurbished venue in Wendover worked a treat and the light delicious lunch from the Lady Grey Tearoom was very much commented upon by all.
“Thank you Lindy Sally & Jane for such a wonderful class again on Saturday. The fact that everyone ventured through the snowy conditions to attend is tribute to your popularity Lindy! Lucy was thrilled with our cake – another cake decorator in the making.” Tricia via the Lindy’s Cakes Facebook Page
Here are the cakes that my students created during their day, beautiful colours, and pretty cakes. A big well done to everyone.
Happy baking and decorating
