To some I am a ‘name’ in cake decorating, to others, I am a cake ‘celebrity’. However, to me, I am someone who adores what I do, educating and inspiring others. My books are extremely popular and have been translated into many languages. This is wonderful and means that I sometimes get asked to do more than only teach classes and demonstrate sugarcraft techniques.
My recent teaching trip to Germany was one such occasion. As well as teaching, demonstrating, and signing German copies of my books, I was also asked to cut a ribbon. A ribbon to open the new German cake decorating shop and school – Torten Boutique – how exciting! Now you may think that cutting a ribbon is a simple task. You take a pair of scissors and cleanly cut a ribbon in two. This was not to be the case in Langenfeld on November 30th, 2013!!
I had a wonderful time at Torten Boutique. They have asked me back to teach a two-day wonky class next Autumn. I wonder if I’ll be asked to do something a little different next time too?
Happy baking and decorating
