I was thrilled and delighted to discover my patchwork owl cake had been chosen, from many cakes at the Cake and Bake Show, to feature in the online version of the Telegraph Newspaper, published Saturday 14th September 2013. Here is what this prestigious paper had to say about the show and my cake:
“Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre becomes a cavernous cauldron of indulgence this weekend as amateur cooks, driven into a frenzy by The Great British Bake-Off descend on the Cake & Bake Show to seek further inspiration and instruction. Advance tickets are sold out, but if you can’t join the queues on the day take solace in this gallery of creations, all confected by bakers who will be exhibiting, demonstrating or teaching at the show.
The wide-awake Owl Cake is the work of Lindy Smith of Lindy’s Cakes, a wise bird in the sugarcraft industry, and author of The Contemporary Cake Decorating Bible.”
The Owl was a huge hit at the show and was photographed many times. He is actually a cake from my new book Creative Colour for Cake Decorating, recently published by David & Charles which contains all the instructions to make the cake. So if you fancy having a go yourself why not invest in a copy – I’m sure you’ll be a thrilled with the book as I am!
Happy baking and decorating
Lindy
