Designer Wedding Cookies Class

‘I haven’t had this much fun in ages’ was one of the comments from a student at Lindy’s Designer Wedding Cookie Class on Friday. I absolutely agree! There was a real buzz amongst the students, it was a stunning day which always gets everyone off to a great start, and the excitement and  anticipation was intoxicating. We had some students who had experience in sugarcrafting and some who had never attemping anything like this before.

This was my first workshop since starting at Lindys Cakes and being new to the sugarcrafting world I was keen to see what it was all about. I wasn’t alone! It’s one thing looking at all the glorious creations on Lindys website, on the DVDs and in her books but it’s a totally different experience seeing it ‘live’. Watching Lindy demonstrate the first cookie was a treat. A ‘wonky cake’ cookie in pinks, reds, orange and whites.  The result was stunning. And I am still smiling at all the ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ from the students as Lindys work unfolded! 

We were then directed back to our workstations to start creating. It was wonderful to see how each person interpreted Lindys demonstration. The choice of colours, the placing of flowers, or not, the stripes… each cookie unique to it’s creator. Each beautiful in it’s own right. I loved the comrarderie between these students, virtual strangers being supporitve and encouraging, sharing tools, stories, ideas, giggles, enthusiasm.

After lunch, gobbled down at speed so as not to lose any creative time!,  Lindy demonstrated working with stencils, embossing, lustre dust and piping work on the ‘heart’ and ‘tiered wedding cake’ shaped cookie, again the results were breathtaking.  

The students created an impressive number of cookies and the results speak for themselves. Cookie courses are a great introducation to sugarcrafting, or for the experienced sugarcrafter another medium to practice and showcase your skills.

Our next two cookie class are the ‘Christmas Tree Cookies’ on the 24th November and ‘Party cookies’ on the 11th December. Come and join us!
