Cake Jewellery Workshop

All that glitters is … Lindy’s Cake Jewellery Class! Six plain cakes covered in white sugarpaste arrived at Lindy’s workshop this morning… six stunning jewelled cakes left this afternoon.

Working with wires, of various widths and strengths Lindy began the class with a thorough explanation and demonstration of how to use them to create garlands and crowns. She then moved on to the beads. The ‘bling’ in this process. Lindy’s Cakes has a most impressive,  and visually stunning, selection of beads. Although we were only able to take a small selection for the purpose of this workshop they really are breathtaking. Judging by the ‘oohs’ and aahs’  the saying ‘kid in a candy store’ comes to mind. It’s the beads and crystals that really inspire you.

Watching the students form their colour collection was fascinating and each was as beautiful as the next. From pretty in pink to the striking use of red,black and silver, to the elegant navy, white and cerise, to the chocolate and duck egg blue – that is fast becoming one of our students trademark colours – you know who you are!! From Autumninal hues to baby blues, the room sparkled as the beads were threaded on to the wires and the garlands and crowns started taking shape. At times you could have heard a …bead drop! Loops and twist, curls and swirls, slowly and methodically the students worked under the watchful eye of Lindy to create the most beautiful cake jewellery.
