Food and Fashion… girls and handbags…handbags that you can eat… now you’re talking! What a great way to start our 2011 classes with Lindy’s Designer Handbag Course. In the sugarcraft world this is Cake ‘Accessories’ Couture at it’s finest!
Today we had 6 students who have completed courses with us before. That’s 6 out of 10 familliar faces! We love welcoming back students, it makes for a very relaxed start to the course. Mind you, you might arrive a stranger at a Lindy’s workshop but you will leave our cake friend.
This is a wonderful carving course. You do need to be comfortable with working with sugarcraft, ideally not a beginner, and it is best to have carved at least one cake before. Carving the cake into shape takes up approx half the course time. Lindy is detailed and meticulous in her approach to carving for this is the canvas to a fabulous looking cake. Then the fun begins with the covering and adorning of your handbag shaped cake!
It is always fun watching these bags develop over the day, it’s always fun chatting and having a giggle as we work! And it’s always a joy seeing the results of a hard, but fun, days work!
Today the team at Lindy’s Cakes requested that Lindy deviate from her usual pallet of bright colours, we decided we needed to channel spring! We were so inspired by Valentinos new, and hotly anticipated, spring collection that we asked her to create this bag using the nude and black colours that you will see everywhere this spring. Amazingly she agreed! I love the result!
It’s good to be doing workshops again and I can tell you for sure that the Handbag course will feature on many workshop programmes at Lindy’s Cakes in the future!
