Our ‘Summer Workshops’ got off to a flying start on Friday with our constant favourite workshop ‘Introduction to Celebration Cakes’. This is the ultimate starting place for learning the basics of working with icing/sugarpaste. From the baking of the cake through to the adorning of a covered cake, Lindy leaves nothing to chance in helping you achieve a professional finish when working with sugarpaste. This is a back to basics course, but that is not to say that this course will only be suitable for a beginner. We are told by our students that Lindy’s advice, guidance and tips on this course are invaluable for perfecting sugarcraft, and that applies to everyone! Our students did a great job today. Sure, there were some tricky moments…a collapsing cake…uncooked centre…ripped sugarpaste…dents… but we say ‘good’, in the nicest possible way! For this is what a workshop is all about. It is good to see the reality of what can happen if it all goes wrong. Lindy and the team can give you the solutions to make it right, on the spot, one to one. We learn from our mistakes and in the long run it will make you a better sugarcrafter. Having said that our students cakes are fab! Well finished and decorated beautifully. Lindy was delighted with how the students worked so diligently on their cakes and they should be very proud of what they achieved.
We are also delighted with the response from our first workshop lunch! We are currently trialing the providing of a light lunch at our workshops. The summer workshop programme, which runs until the 1st July, will have a freshly prepared lunch provided at every workshop. Our friends at the uber fabulous Whitewaters Deli & Cafe in Wendover Bucks are doing the catering. This week we were treated to a selection of tarts with gorgeous fillings, a couscous salad and a rocket salad. A selection of delicious fruits were provided by our friend, & business neighbour, Andrew at Sycamore Services – Fruit & Vegetable in Wendover. There was very little food left over…which says it all really…so far so good!!
As the day drew to an end the workshop team all agreed that it was good to be doing workshops again. We are fortunate that at Lindy’s Cakes Ltd we get involved in a variety of projects but at the end of the day Lindy and the team do enjoy a sugarcraft workshop!
Here are some of the lovely thank you’s we received after the class:
“Hi Team, just to say a huge thank you for a wonderful workshop on Friday. I am delighted with the cake I produced with lots of help from the team who were all lovely. I am buzzing with inspiration now. To anyone thinking about going to the workshop – just go, you’ll love it.” Arlene Munroe
“Hi Jane. Thank you SO much for the most enjoyable workshop on Friday. I appreciate that all the Lindy staff worked very hard to ensure that we gained the most from the course. I was absolutely thrilled with my decorated cake and felt that I learnt so many things, not only about the decorating but just as importantly, about the actual cake baking itself. Can’t wait to try out all the new equipment I bought – am definitely hooked and look forward to signing up to another course in the future. Thank you also to Rachel for a superb lunch and to Sally for the luscious lemon cake. And lastly (but not leastly) THANK YOU Lindy for the inspiration – it was a pleasure to meet you.” Tricia Oliver
“Dear Jane, I just wanted to write and say thank you to all on the workshop on Friday. It was a fabulous day and I learnt a huge amount, can’t wait to put what I learnt into practice – mother-in-law is the next one I need to do – so no pressure! The cake I did has been demolished with positive reviews, so very pleased with it. Thank you all again for a friendly, informative and fun day!” Sam Smith

Hi, I’m just wondering whether you have any plans to run workshops on a Saturday? I work full-time in school and can’t take days off through the week.

We don’t tend to Tracy, we have however got a mini cake class this coming half term (next Friday) perhaps that would interest you?
