Here is a short taster from our March 2016 Newsletter. If you like to receive future newsletters, in full, please subscribe and we’ll add you to our list.
Dear Cake Friends
I am having a very busy but exciting week, preparing for the TV launch of my brand new book ‘Simply Modern Wedding Cakes’. The show will be on Create & Craft TV this Sunday at 5pm and is part of the Cake Academy series. If you’d like to watch the show, the channel details are below. I will be talking about the book and demonstrating some of the cake decorating techniques used to create the cakes.I always love to learn, so I have recently set myself the challenge of learning how to film and edit short cake decorating tutorials. I’m on a steep learning curve but I’m loving the experience. Judging by the numbers of share and likes on Facebook you seem to be loving them too! More are planned so if you have any specific requests please let me know. Here’s one example:
Find more ‘how to’ videos on my You Tube ChannelTeaching and travel are two passions of mine, so it’s wonderful when I have the opportunity to do both at once. I have recently been approached by a holiday villa owner from sunny Portugal who happens to be a keen sugarcrafter. Her idea is to run a cake decorating holiday in the second half of June at her Villa. The villa is set in 4 acres of olive, fig and almond trees, not far from the coast. Classes would be for 6 students, ideally 3 pairs of friends or family (twin bedded accommodation). I plan to teach some of the new techniques from my ‘Simply Modern Wedding Cakes’ book, but it will be your holiday so I will try and fit in any special requests too. What do you think? Would you like to join us? Do get in contact if you might be interested.
We are introducing a new ‘Pick & Mix’ concept to our UK class programme, so if you would like to learn specific techniques or need help with a particular cake, why not book yourself into a class – bring a friend to spread the cost and double the fun!
As I mentioned in my last newsletter I am taking one-off commissions for cakes again, which is all very exciting. I recently spent a fabulous day at the Luxury Wedding Show in the Bath Assembly Rooms, meeting brides and suppliers – my first wedding fair for a very long time! I do love a wedding…..
Looking forward, you’ll find me at Cake International at Alexandra Palace, London in April and the International British Sugarcraft Guild show in Telford, Shropshire in May, so if you are visiting either of these shows please do pop over to our stand and say hi..
I love to inspire you but I also thoroughly enjoy seeing what you do to, so please do keep in touch by email or social media including our Facebook page.
Until next time…
Happy Baking and Decorating
Lindy Smith
