Creating cake really does give meaning to our lives. There’s something about making, baking and cake decorating that puts everything into its natural and rightful place, a way of celebrating or just getting together – gathering to enjoy and smile, eat and share. Sugarcraft is the perfect ‘icing’ on this experience – where we can capture our feelings and put them down in sugar.
Time for Blooming Great Tea Parties!
Marie Curie Cancer Care is asking people to hold a Blooming Great Tea Party this June and July to help raise funds for the charity. It can be as simple as a cuppa with colleagues, a vintage inspired tea party or even a larger party, bake off or biscuit decorating competition and general cake fun! The money raised from all these tea parties will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer and other terminal illnesses in their own homes.
Blooming Great!
Our lovely Stockroom Stalwart, Victoria claims ”The Blooming Great Tea Party’ is putting her in the flower frame of mind. What easier way to adorn batches of cupcakes or make a stand alone showstopping sugarcraft sensation, than with sugar blooms? Blooming great … blooming marvellous … blooming … well, whatever raises the most money, really! So sunflower flower moulds at the ready, how about putting the blooms onto your cakes and cookies for a glorious afternoon tea? Jane – Head of Most Things But Particularly Workshops – says she would do an English Rose Tea Party, all pinks and reds and whites and yellows, and make a larger cake topped in sugarpaste and decorated with Lindy’s beautiful species rose stencil. There’s a girl with an eye for glamour…!
Ideas Central
Emily – who is Doesn’t Want to Be Head of Anything Particularly – has a more practical approach and would do a ‘Tea party-Tea party’. Yes, Emily may be considered the Team Eccentric, but on further examination her idea is really quite sound and she’d go for eye-catching cookies in the shape of mugs or art deco teacups – clearly channelling her inner Clarice Cliff!
Otherwise the Lindy’s Cakes team is full of many ideas. Tristan would go for a Regatta picnic or Cricket Tea approach, Daisy can’t make up her mind between Mad Hatter’s Tea Party or just relaxed Shabby Chic, Sian is still in love with the paint splats (in yellow and blue this time, of course) and Fiona is all for full on patriotic summer with flags and bunting. As for Lindy… Well she says to do whatever takes your fancy and whatever will raise a nice bit of money for a great cause …
As ever we wish you all ‘Happy Baking’ and please do share your pictures and stories of any Blooming Great Tea Parties with us on our Facebook page.
