WOW, I’m a cake blog award winner! What a delightful surprise, on a dull and gloomy Monday, to discover that I am ranked number four in Feedspot’s “Cake Blogs and Websites Every Cake Baker Must Follow” list.
I’ve owned a website since 2000 and published my first blog posts in 2009, so I’m no stranger to creating content for the web. I know from looking at my own stats that my visitors love my blog. However, it’s good every so often to receive recognition, to be a cake blog award winner. It makes all the hard work of creating posts and pages worthwhile. This is the lovely message I received from Feedspot’s founder Anuj Agarwal.
“This is the most comprehensive list of best UK Cake blogs on the internet and I’m honoured to have you as part of this! I personally give you a high-five and want to thank you for your contribution to this world.”
How the Top 20 UK cake blog award winners where chosen
The winning top 20 cake blogs were, apparently, chosen from many thousands and were ranked by Feedspot using the following criteria:
- Google reputation and Google search ranking
- Influence and popularity on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites
- Quality and consistency of posts.
- Feedspot’s editorial team and expert review
The list is interesting, Hobby Craft is number one, Clandestine Cake Club is number three, Lindy’s Cakes number four, Cake Masters magazine number twelve. Click on the award badge above to see the full list.
What is a blog?
For those of you who are not quite sure what a blog actually is, let me explain. A blog is essentially a newsfeed where new posts, articles or stories are added to the top of a feed or blogroll, as new posts are added older ones move down the list. People blog about absolutely anything, for me, of course, it’s all about cakes, sugarcraft and related subjects. Unlike websites, blogs allow you, the reader, to interact. You can leave comments and easily share the content you find.
To discover older posts, and I have hundreds, there are usually categories to browse through. Some of my popular categories are:
Each blog post has clickable tags (words) at the bottom so you can click on these to find similar content. I’ve also recently added three ‘you may also like‘ related posts at the very end of each post to help you explore and discover more.
To get you started here are a couple of my popular posts:
Lindy’s Cake blog subjects
I am naturally curious and like writing about anything that interests me and is, in some way or another, related to cake. My subjects range from how to features to baking recipes, cake inspiration to general cake chat. Having written a good number of cake decorating books, I consider myself a writer. I’ll never be a JK Rawling or an Emily Brontë, however, I enjoy the process of putting the metaphorical pen to paper, of educating, entertaining and inspiring.
