Aussie Tweets – Week 2009-09-13

13th September 2009 by Lindy Smith

  • Finished my last dem in Australia. Introduced a very friendly bunch of ladies to cake jewellery, they were fascinated – good way to end #
  • Did you know that sugarpaste or fondant in Australia is known generically at RTR – ready to roll #
  • Starting to feel a bit exhausted…. now been in Australia for 4 weeks – my last demonstration is tomorrow morning at John Quai Hoi’s shop #
  • Found a shop in the centre of Melbourne which sells bitesized cupcakes called ‘Little Cupcake’ – obviously very popular as people queuing!! #
  • Made sugar handbags decorated with green, yellow, orange and black at this evening dem – not my natural choice of colours but they worked! #
  • I have 4 more cake dems to go then that’s it, if you’re not already attending why not join me at My Cake Delights – 219 High St, Preston VIC #
  • Found a blog with pictures from the Cake seminar in Sydney #
  • At last, I’ve seen cakes in Australia with colour!!! I was beginning to think that only white or pastel cakes were made here – what a relief! #
  • Found a great little bead shop near John’s cake shop – Bejooled (320 High St Preston) I couldn’t resist buying a few bits and pieces. #
  • Now in Melbourne, my cake jewellery dem last night seemed to go down well, but everyone was so quiet! I’m told they were all concentrating!! #
  • Flying down to Melbourne today. Giving another cake jewellery dem this evening – My Cake Delights, High St. Preston, hopefully see you there #
  • The cake jewellery dem that I gave last night was really well received, lots of interest & think I just might have inspired a few a have a go! #
  • Tasted interesting cake flavours, white chocolate and macadamia and one with whisky – cake bakers in Australia seem to be quite adventurous! #
  • Tomorrow night I’m deming cake jewellery at Bayside Branch, Brisbane and then I’m flying down to Melbourne for more dems so join me there #
  • The wonky class was delightful today – some really fab cakes were created, made a refreshing change to be teaching professionals, pics on the blog soon. #
