I simply adore Pinterest, so when I was approached to take part in the Pin It Forward UK Campaign I jumped at the chance. Pinterest is a wonderful tool – it’s part mood board, part scrapbook, part social platform like Twitter but using pictures rather than words. I love how visual Pinterest is, I am a designer so for me to be able to browse the web, collect images that appeal to me and be able to organise and share them, in a way that is both attractive and inspiring is fantastic.
If you’ve not come across Pinterest before, I would really urge you to sign up I guarantee you’ll be inspired and probably wonder what you ever did without it – mind you I will warn you it’s also very addictive – like chocolate!
So how do I use Pinterest? Well apart from just re-pinning and collecting fabulously images that excite me, I now use Pinterest to help me with my design research. For example, I have just created and filmed on online class for Craftsy where I will be showing students how to carve and decorate a vintage birdcage cake – where did I collect my inspiration? You’ve guessed it Pinterest!
I think however that as a cake designer probably my favourite board has to be my Wedding Cake Inspiration board, here I just collect images I see of cakes on the web that for one reason or another appeal to me. If you like what I like then you can follow all my boards or just the ones that interest you.
Another really lovely aspect about Pinterest is that it will take you back to where the image originally came from, so if you see a pair of shoes, a gorgeous rug or a sugarcraft cutter that you simply have to have, you just click on the image a couple of times and you’re there back at the original webpage – fabulous!
I love the concept behind the The Pin It Forward UK Campaign as not only is it promoting Pinterest but it is also introducing us all to wonderful and inspiring bloggers who love all things visually gorgeous. We are all introduced by fellow bloggers, so thank you Sarah from Annaboo’s House for your very enthusiastic write up and then in turn we introduce the next blogger in the chain…so it is now my turn to hand you over to Sarah Knight from Crafts from the Cwtch who is a self-confessed addict to knitting, crochet and blogging…. and Pinterest!
So what are you waiting for? Sign up to Pinterest right here, follow my boards, create your own and be inspired……
Happing Pinning!

I actually only got my act together and joined Pinterest around 8 months ago! For some unearthly reason I kept putting it off and never actually joined when planning my own wedding (major mistake on my part!). At the time I couldn’t deal with any more visual wedding stimuli, from following every wedding blog under the sun to the constant supply of magazines on my doormat, I was overwhelmed! Looking back, our planning would of been one hell of a lot easier if I had embraced Pinterest sooner. Seriously, I had the biggest wedding folder, scraps of paper all over our flat, magazine cuttings and mood boards. All of which very nearly pushed the boy over the edge! If only I had joined Pinterest! I am sure most of you are already aware of Pinterest but if not it’s an invaluable source of prettiness and inspiration for all brides to be. It’s like a visual online scrap book and works in a similar way to a pin board, where you can collect and organize all of your very favourite images. You can create different folders and pin photos you like from blogs and websites or you can upload images yourself. I have 33 boards containing nearly 4000 pins ranging from bloomin’ lovely flowers , pretty lace and cakes to colou r and home inspiration. So you could say I spend a fair amount of time on there!

Pinterest is an online tool for collecting and organizing things that you love. It’s a bit like a virtual set of noticeboards or moodboards that you can continually add to without running out of space. For me, Pinterest is a way of getting a quick visual fix when I need one. I use it to collate ideas and inspirations for both blog posts and for home décor inspiration. Many of the pins or images that I look at are quite aspirational and I like that. I like that it keeps me motivated to do better, whether that’s with blogging or with home DIY.

I found this delicious recipe on the BBC Good Food website one evening whilst browsing looking for some inspiration! It reminds me of a Bakewell Tart style cake, but a lot more moist. It’s lovely on it’s own, or you could serve as a pudding with custard or cream. Mmmmm!

We’ve been on Pinterest for quite a while now and we love it! It makes it effortless to pin up photos to various custom-made picture boards, for people to ‘re-pin’ these to their own boards and for more people to click through to the content that our image is representing – and many do, as the traffic brought in from Pinterest has continued to rise since we first launched over there. The eye-catching design and emphasis on high quality images – something we have an abundance of in the bathroom industry – certainly helps, and due to this we now have over 1,200 pins for you to take a look at there.
